This 4-hour course offers a basic introduction and explanation of supported scaffolds and their components, as well as elements of scaffold safety. The course also discusses common hazards inherent to the use of supported scaffolds and focuses on the reduction and prevention of those hazards. Topics examined in the course include fall protection, scaffold inspections, hazard recognition, as well as proper responses to emergency situations most often encountered while working on supported scaffolds.

 

4-HOUR SUPPORTED SCAFFOLD - TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

According to Local Law 52, all workers in New York City working on construction sites are required to complete 4 hours of scaffold training and obtain their 4-hour scaffold card. Individuals are required to re-take this training course every 4 years to renew their scaffold card.

 

NYC’S 4-HOUR SCAFFOLD TRAINING REQUIREMENT

Local law 196 introduced new regulations requiring a specific amount of training for demolition and construction workers employed in the 5 boroughs. Starting June 1st, 2019, workers are required to have a total of 40 hours of training which includes the 8-Hour Fall Prevention course and the 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness course. Additionally, supervisors are also required to have a total of 62 hours of training, which must include this 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher Class among other required courses. Furthermore, workers must also obtain the proper Site Safety Training (SST) card as proof of completion of the necessary training.

CEUs REQUIREMENTS

  1. 100% attendance for the 4-Hour Scaffold User and Refresher Training Program
  2. Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
  3. Active participation in all class exercises (determined by course instructor)
  4. Completion of required pre-and post-quiz assessment
  5. As applicable, achievement of a minimum passing score on the required end-of-course examination
  6. Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)

  4. Summarize New York City Building Code requirements for supported scaffold safety

Upon course completion, students will receive their 4-hour Supported Scaffold course certificate of completion and 4-hour Supported Scaffold User card.
